Our focus in 2025

Continuing to build a strong foundation

Entering our second year, S.T.R.O.N.G. Lake County is energized to build upon the successes of our inaugural year.

Members and the community

S.T.R.O.N.G. leaders have created a variety of events this year, to support our mission, in the community and with our members.

Nurturing the mission

We've had a fantastic start to the year with our group ice skating adventure along with our medical Emergency presentation held 4/5 . S.T.R.O.N.G. Lake County will have volunteers out at the next All-American Ruck in May. This is a special Kyle McKee memorial Ruck with proceeds going to NEOPAT-  a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and honoring military members and their families. They focus on promoting patriotism, assisting veterans, and remembering those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. NEOPAT provides financial aid, volunteer opportunities, and fundraising initiatives to help military families in need

April's event "Signs and Symptons of a Medical Emergency" SUCCESS

On April 5, S.T.R.O.N.G. Lake County hosted an informative event at Morley Library, focusing on recognizing the signs and symptoms of a medical emergency.

Leading the discussion was local nurse Brenda Thompson, who shared her expertise on the differences between cardiac arrest and a heart attack. One surprising takeaway was learning that Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located all around us. To easily find nearby AEDs, consider downloading the PulsePoint app.

The presentation also featured a collaboration with Chief Tom Hummel of the Painesville Fire Department. Chief Hummel provided valuable insights into emergency transport and treatment, emphasizing the importance of being prepared to give details about the situation and your location when calling 911.

Additionally, if you encounter someone slumped over and unresponsive, first ask if they need help. If they remain unresponsive, ensure their airway is open by gently positioning their head back and immediately call 911.

It's common for people to freeze when witnessing an emergency, but taking action—especially by calling 911 and providing relevant details—can save lives.
